How to get Spanish NIE number

What is the NIE number?
The NIE number (Número de Identificación de Extranjero), is the equivalent of a Spanish person’s Número de Identificación Fiscal (NIF).
Each NIE Number is unique to one person and it is neither transferable nor does it expire.
You will need it to open a bank account, buy a property, get a job, etc.
If you are planning on staying for longer than 3 months in Spain you are required to apply for a Spanish residency permit (NIE for EU residents).

When will I get my NIE number?
Normally the process is quick, but there is a struggle with finding appointments in certain provinces. It can take around 2-4 weeks to find an appointment in some of them and in others we can get you booked in less than a week.
